Overview
Diagnostics turns the Revenue Engineโs signals into a prioritised list of things to do. It appears in two places: the Prescription band docked to the right of the canvas, which always shows your top risk and a short action preview, and the full Diagnosticsslide-out (the Revenue Mechanic), which carries the complete brief and the conversion analysis behind it. Both are persona-aware โ the brief re-titles and re-ranks to match whoever is viewing.
This guide covers the Prescription band, how to open Diagnostics, and the two views inside it. For the masthead button that opens it and the surrounding layout, see the Revenue Engine Masthead guide.
The Prescription band
The band sits beside the canvas and leads with a persona eyebrow โ for example CRO BRIEF โ AS OF TODAY. It is built so your single most important item is always visible above the fold:
- A lead element and posture line set the framing โ the one thing to notice and the stance to take this week.
- The first slot is always your top risk, folded in so it can never be pushed off the preview; the second slot is the next-highest-priority action.
- A summary row counts what is waiting by time horizon (for example 3 today ยท 2 this week ยท 4 this month), with View full brief to open Diagnostics.
- In the top-right, a $XX at risk ยท N deals stat โ drawn from the unified forecast โ opens Diagnostics straight to the top risks. When nothing is at risk, the band shows your personaโs empty-state copy instead.
Opening Diagnostics
Open the full panel any of three ways: the Diagnostics button in the masthead, View full brief on the Prescription band, or the $XX at risk stat. The panel slides in from the right; press Esc or click the scrim to close it. Its header reads DIAGNOSTICS ยท Revenue Mechanic.
Two views: Action Brief and Conversion
A toggle at the top of the panel switches between the two views. The subtitle changes to tell you how the current view is ordered.
Action Brief
The Action Brief view lists recommendations grouped by time horizon, in the order they need attention:
- Today โ donโt let the day end without these.
- This week
- This month
- This quarter
- Already behind โ the recovery window has closed.
Each item states the prescription, the Evidence behind it, and a Why this horizon note explaining the timing. Coaching items aimed at a specific rep are marked with a COACHING tag and an accent edge, and carry a rep-specific action (such as Open agenda) rather than the deal action (Investigate). The panel footer shows how many signals were evaluated to produce the brief.
Conversion
The Conversion view ranks the engine by revenue impact rather than time. It opens with:
- A top-drag hero โ the single worst conversion problem, with its severity, the percentage-point GAP to benchmark, the REVENUE AT RISK, and an Investigate button.
- A triage summary counting stages as Critical, Reviewand Healthy.
- An ALL STAGES list. Each stage card shows its severity, the Actual versus Bench conversion rate as a bar, the gap in percentage points, and the dollars at risk.
When the data supports more than one comparison, a Benchmark toggle lets you switch the basis the rates are measured against (each option carries a tooltip describing it).
Stage diagnosis detail
Clicking a stage card (or Investigate on the hero) opens that stageโs diagnosis, headed by the stage name, severity, and its GAP, AT RISK and DEALS figures. Three tabs break the problem down:
- Symptoms โ the observable signs the stage is underperforming.
- Root Cause โ the underlying reason.
- Prescriptions โ specific fixes, each with a title, a description, a fix in time estimate and the revenue impact. A chip on the tab counts how many prescriptions there are.
Use the back arrow to return to the stage list.
Tips
- Start your day in the Action Brief view and clear the Today horizon first.
- When a forecast looks soft, switch to Conversion and investigate the top-drag stage โ it is usually where the dollars are leaking.
- The Prescription band is the home-screen pulse; open the full panel only when an item needs the evidence and prescriptions behind it.
Troubleshooting
- The panel says โLoading diagnosticsโ. A preview envelope carries no diagnosis yet, so it shows as loading rather than empty. Give it a moment, or press Refresh in the masthead.
- The Action Brief is empty. No actions are due for your persona right now โ the band shows your empty-state copy. This is a healthy state, not an error.
- The Benchmark toggle is missing. It only appears in the Conversion view, and only when more than one benchmark mode is available for your data.
