Overview
The Revenue Engine is your home screen. It opens on the root route (/) and is also reachable at /revenue-engine. The page leads with a masthead of period vitals and a Bowtie view of the full revenue lifecycle, then adapts the rest of the surface to your role: a Chief Revenue Officer, a RevOps leader and a Customer Success leader each see operational cards tuned to the decisions they own.
This guide explains the shared layout, how your persona is resolved, the persona chip strip and operational card drawer, and which cards each leader persona receives. For the capacity-planning surface that opens beneath the page for CROs and Sales Leaders, see the dedicated Capacity Planning Workspace guide.
How your persona is resolved
By default the Revenue Engine reads your persona from your user profile role, so you do not need to configure anything โ the right cards appear automatically. You can also preview another persona by adding a ?persona= value to the URL, which is useful for demos and reviews:
?persona=croโ Chief Revenue Officer?persona=revops_leaderโ Revenue Operations leader?persona=cs_leaderโ Customer Success leader?persona=sales_leaderโ Sales Leader (also the default when no persona is set)
The persona you are viewing is named in the masthead brief (for example, CRO BRIEF โ AS OF TODAY) and on the card strip, so it is always clear which lens is active.
The shared layout (every persona)
Regardless of persona, the page is built from the same top-to-bottom spine:
- Masthead โ the headline forecast for the selected period plus always-on KPI tiles: Forecast, Quota Attainment, Coverage, Win Rate, Lead Velocity, NRR and GRR. The period selector sits next to the REVENUE ENGINE label, and the row of buttons on the right opens Weekly Review, Diagnostics,Glossary and Refresh. Clicking most KPI tiles opens a drill-down panel for that metric.
- Bowtie canvas โ the revenue lifecycle from Acquisition through Conversion to Retention and Expansion. Use the Overlay control (Leakage / Money / None), theFlow toggle, and the Linear / Currents layout switch to change what the canvas emphasises. Click any node to open the Stage Inspector below.
- Prescription band โ a persona-aware action brief docked to the right of the canvas. It always surfaces your top risk first, shows the dollars and deals at risk, and links into the full Diagnostics brief.
- Persona chip strip and operational card drawer โ described in the next two sections.
- Segment Operating View, the three-column row of Forecast Rail,Stage Inspector, Quota Pacing and Forecast Gap Diagnosis, and slide-outs for the Revenue Playbook, ARR Growth Engine and Metric Glossary.
The persona chip strip
Below the canvas is a single always-visible strip of headline numbers for your persona โ for example, the CRO strip reads Chief Revenue Officer ยท cards followed by deal-mix, ramp, revenue-at-risk and waste-score chips. The chips are a quick pulse; clicking anywhere on the strip (or the Open cards button on the right) opens the operational card drawer.
The operational card drawer
The drawer slides in from the right and holds the cards for your persona. Each card is a compact, home-altitude summary that links through to the deeper surface where you can act. PressEsc or click the scrim to close it. The cards you see depend on your persona:
Chief Revenue Officer
- Team Deal-Mix โ classifies each quota-carrying rep as Hunter, Farmer, Hybrid or Unknown, with four summary tiles and a per-rep breakdown behind a disclosure. Classifications recompute nightly.
- Ramp Cohort โ per-rep ramp attainment grouped by cohort, showing the ramp month, actual versus expected attainment, a progress bar and an On track / Ahead / Behind / No quota status badge.
- Deal Drag โ a portfolio rollup of deal drag: Average Waste Score, High Risk Deals, At Risk Value and Stalled Deals, linking to the full Deal Drag surface.
Revenue Operations leader
- Deal Drag โ the same portfolio drag rollup the CRO sees, from the RevOps vantage point.
- Data Quality โ an overall data-quality score, the single largest issue (for example, opportunities missing close dates) and a link to the full data-quality view.
- CRM Sync Health โ one row per connected CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot or JobAdder) showing Health, Last sync, error rate and Avg latency. When no CRM is connected it shows a Connect a CRM prompt instead.
Customer Success leader
- Renewal Forecast โ the forward-looking renewal book for the selected window (90 days by default): renewal book, at-risk book, Commit and Best case, plus the top at-risk accounts with an Open account link. Each metric carries an info tooltip explaining how it is calculated.
- CS Movers โ predictive health-score movement in two columns, Movers down and Movers up, with the top contributing reasons per account and an At risk in 30 days footer for accounts projected to cross a tier boundary.
Sales Leaders and any unrecognised persona see the default Sales Leader card set. VP Sales has its own composition as well. The Prescription band and Revenue Playbook also re-title and re-rank to match the active persona.
Capacity Planning (CRO and Sales Leader only)
For the CRO and Sales Leader personas, a full Capacity Planning workspace renders inline beneath the three-column row. It does not appear for RevOps or Customer Success. Because it is a substantial interactive surface, it has its own guide โ see Capacity Planning Workspace.
Tips
- Set the period once in the masthead โ every panel and card on the page follows it.
- Use the chip strip as a 5-second pulse, then open the drawer only when a number needs a closer look.
- Open the Glossary from the masthead whenever a metric definition is unclear; every number on the page is defined there.
Troubleshooting
- No card strip appears. The strip only shows once the brief has loaded for your persona. Give the page a moment after first load, or press Refresh.
- CRM Sync Health shows Connect a CRM. No CRM integration is enabled yet โ connect one from Integrations.
- A ramp or coaching card shows a soft access message. Some leader cards are gated to manager and above; individual contributors will see an access note rather than an error.
