Overview
Pipeline Explorer is the Flow item in the sidebar, under the Pipeline heading. It answers one question: where is the book actually sitting, and what is holding it there? Rather than a table of deals, it draws the pipeline as a schematic โ fixed lanes with a live current running between them โ so concentration, stalling and risk are visible as shapes before you read a single number.
The page sits at /crm/pipeline-explorer and carries the eyebrow REVENUE ENGINE ยท FLOW with the selected period. Its sibling page, Pipeline Velocity, is one click away via the Velocity button at the top-left of the masthead.
The masthead
The headline reads Pipeline Explorer, followed by a posture line generated from the data currently in view โ a plain-language read on the shape of the book โ and a smaller meta line showing the deal count in view and when the data was last updated.
Four controls sit on the right:
- Period selector โ sets the reporting window for the whole page.
- Show Filters / Hide Filters โ reveals the dataset filter panel.
- Refresh Data โ re-pulls the dataset; the icon spins while it works.
- Pipeline Playbook โ opens the pipeline playbook alongside the schematic.
The health strip and its drill-downs
Directly beneath the masthead runs a strip of instrument tiles reading the health of the pipeline in view: Coverage, Forecast, At Risk, Quota Attainment and Win Rate.
Four of these tiles are also buttons. Click one and a drill-down panel opens inline beneath the strip; each has a close button in its top-right corner.
- Coverage opens the pipeline health breakdown.
- Forecast opens the forecast confidence overlay.
- At Risk opens risk analysis, where selecting a deal opens its detail modal.
- Quota Attainment opens velocity analytics.
Clicking the same tile again closes its panel, so you can toggle between views without losing your place.
Dataset filters
Press Show Filters and a DATASET FILTERS panel appears. These filters change the dataset the whole page is built from โ reps, close-date range, minimum and maximum amount, forecast categories and stages. They apply to the health strip, the drill-downs and the schematic together.
The schematic
The main canvas is labelled THE SCHEMATIC with the headline How the book flows through the lanes, and the reminder fixed lanes ยท live current ยท click to isolate. Deals are drawn as instrument nodes arranged into lanes, with animated edges showing the current running between them. The animation respects the operating systemโs reduced-motion setting.
Click any node to isolate it โ the selection summary rail updates to describe what you have picked, and selecting a deal opens its details modal.
Lane preset
The LANE PRESET dropdown decides what the lanes represent. The options are Rep, Stage, Forecast, Health and Urgency. Switching preset re-lays the same deals against a different axis, which is the fastest way to test a hypothesis: if the book looks balanced by Stage but lumpy by Rep, you have a coverage problem, not a stage problem.
Weight by
WEIGHT BY controls what edge thickness represents: Pipeline Value or Deal Count. Value weighting shows where the money is; count weighting shows where the work is. They often disagree, and the disagreement is usually the insight.
Overlay
OVERLAY paints risk triggers onto the schematic. The options are All Triggers, Deal Momentum, Contact Inactivity and Framework Gap. Choose one to see whether a cluster of at-risk deals shares a single cause.
Explorer filters
Separate from the dataset filters, an EXPLORER FILTERS section lets you toggle chips within the schematic itself, grouped by reps, stages, forecast categories, health bands and trigger urgencies. Click a chip to include or exclude that group from the drawing without re-querying the dataset.
Quick start
- Open Flow from the sidebar and confirm the period selector matches the quarter you are reviewing.
- Read the posture line, then the Coverage and At Risk tiles.
- Set LANE PRESET to Stage and WEIGHT BY to Pipeline Value to see where the money is concentrated.
- Switch LANE PRESET to Rep to see whether that concentration sits with one seller.
- Apply an OVERLAY โ start with All Triggers, then narrow to the dominant trigger type.
- Click a node to isolate it, then open the deal to act.
- If a whole lane looks wrong, open Pipeline Playbook for the guided response.
Troubleshooting
- The schematic is empty. Check the dataset filters first โ a close-date range or amount threshold left over from an earlier session is the usual cause. Then widen the period.
- A red banner reports that triggers failed to load. The schematic still draws from the deal dataset; only the overlay is affected. Press Refresh Data once the issue clears, and dismiss the alert with its close button.
- A drill-down will not open. The drill-down panels need forecast confidence data for the current selection. If it has not loaded yet, wait for the refresh to settle and try again.
- The current is not animating. If your system is set to reduce motion, the schematic deliberately renders statically.
- The numbers differ from Velocity. The two pages answer different questions: Flow reads where deals sit, Velocity reads how long they have sat there. See the Pipeline Velocity guide.
