For RevOps: where to start
Where do I start in RevOps? Check setup, data quality and scope, learn the six checks for any answer, and find the screens and skills you'll use most.
The question
Can we trust the numbers everyone is quoting, and is the system behind them set up right?
RevOps owns the plumbing under every revenue meeting: data quality, the CRM connection, how teams and quotas are set up, and whether an answer can be repeated in the room.
Where it sits on the loop
All of it. RevOps rarely owns a stage, but answers for whether every stage is measured honestly.
How to think about it
- A number is only as good as its scope, window and sample. Check whose data, which dates and how many before anyone acts on it.
- Missing should look missing. A blank is more honest than a zero.
- Setup decays. A new ICP version, a renamed stage or a broken sync quietly changes what every report means.
Common mistakes
- Fixing reports instead of inputs. A dashboard patch hides a data problem for a quarter.
- Treating every number as company-wide. Many views are scoped to a team or a person.

In Claude or Codex
- The summit53 skill to check which organisation you’re connected to: see the skills catalogue.
- forecast-delta-brief, qbr-generator, win-loss-analysis and territory-review.
When the data is thin
- Your scope on the masthead. Unless you’re a workspace owner or admin, the masthead shows your own book, not the organisation’s. Check your access before quoting it.
- In Claude. The revenue loop diagnosis needs team-metrics access, which comes from being an admin, a manager, a CRO, a VP of Sales or a Sales Manager.
Do it this week
- Pick the three numbers your leadership quotes most.
- For each, write its scope, its date range and how many records it rests on.
- Fix the one that would change a decision if it were wrong.
